100 Mile Centennial Challenge

Posted at 10:26 am under Contest, Outdoor Activities

To commemorate the centennial of both Glacier Park and the BSA, a challenge has been sponsored and offered to all scouts during the year. Scouts who hike 100 miles in Glacier Park will earn a $100 donation for their unit.  The miles are cumulative and can be earned all year long.  At the moment, there are only 10 prizes (of $100 each) available and the first ten scouts to complete the 100 miles will earn them.  A journal of the scout’s travels should be kept, not only to log the miles, but also as a source of information and inspiration later (in the same spirit as the Lewis and Clark journals).

This incentive program was developed by the Montana Fire Imagination Center.  It was designed to recognize the contribution Scouting has made to the development of Glacier Park through trail-building and other programs.  This also confirms Scouting’s ongoing commitment to conservation and the safe enjoyment of the outdoors.
